DescriptionThis plenary will focus on the role of the media in the conflict between
Capital and Labor as it manifests itself in the public discourse about
values, morals, justice, equality, fairness, the common good, democracy and
the construction of our national existence. Panelist Elizabeth Fones-Wolf
will present her work on Labor and the Struggle for Democractic Radio; Pepi
Leistyna will outline How TV Frames the Working Class; writer / editor Raj
Jayadev will talk about writing for young workers in Silcon Valley; and
Bhairavi Desai will discuss the media challenges faced by immigrant
workers, particularly NY taxi drivers.
